Joel & Nicolette

Just before their trek to Mongolia for the Mongol Derby in 2018

Nicolette is an experienced horsewoman, having started and produced several hundred horses — Her first 3yo mare at just 8 years of age. She has foxhunted for 28 seasons in many parts of the world including Ireland, France, Australia, and all over the US, and has competed to the 2-star (international) and Intermediate (national) levels in eventing. Nicolette specializes in producing horses for the amateur rider, selling several horses a year to forever homes. Having ridden with many of “The Greats” and ridden thousands of different horses, Nicolette possesses many tips of the trade to help with all types of horses.

Nicolette has her mother’s love of breeding, and hopes to help put more amateur friendly babies on the ground. When it comes to raising and starting horses, she loves the entire process — from teaching the babies how to lead, hold up their feet to be trimmed, and giving them their first baths, being the first to sit on them, taking them over their first jump, and selling them to their forever person.

Nicolette produced the 2017 Theodore O’Connor Trophy winner for USEA Pony of the Year, 14.2 hand Connemara/Thoroughbred, Ganymede, who was ridden by junior Meg Pelligrini for the title. Ganymede earned many USEA, USEF, and ACPS year end titles in her career with Nicolette. She continues to do so with Meg.

She also produced the Appaloosa/Thoroughbred, M-S Reddy Fox, who inspired the annual “Safe Harbor” award given for the most amateur friendly horse in the Young Event Horse series. Reddy Fox was a jack of all trades, competing successfully in first level dressage, preliminary eventing, hunters, jumpers, derbies, and was one of the safest first flight hunt horses in the stable. He was sold to the UK in 2009.

In November 2016, Nicolette purchased a lovely farm (Silver Trophy Stables) in Citra, Florida, where she, her family, and her husband, Joel, now take their string of homebreds and resale projects to continue training and competing, making the occasional trek to other states for the necessary foxhunting trip.
